Sodium Silicate

Sodium Silicate is available in either colorless glassy solid or white powdered form. It is prepared by fusing silicon dioxide and Sodium oxide. It can be easily mixed in water for producing alkaline solutions. It reacts under acidic conditions for forming hard glassy gel that makes it highly useful in cemented products as a bonding agent. Sodium Silicate is used with concrete and abrasive wheels. In addition to this, it is also used as an excellent adhesive for porcelain.
